(APR23) Chiang Rai

A morning visit to the beautiful Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai province. Also known to foreigners as the White Temple. Wat Rong Khun was designed and built by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a Thai National Artist in the field of visual arts (painting). His inspirations for building this temple came from three sources: the nation, the religion and the monarchy. The highlight of the temple is the sparkling white chapel with stunning decorative sculptures and mosaic with a distinguished mural inside.

Have lunch and take a ride on Singha Park Tour tram at Singha Park which is the largest agricultural tourist destination in Thailand, located on more than 3,000 acres of land. The magnificent tea plantations and fields of seasonal flowers create a beautiful atmosphere all year round. The park also features adventurous activities including rock climbing, zip lining, cycling and nature walks. There is also a massive outdoor space, capable of accommodating all kinds of MICE events. Singha Park has been the host of a number of international events including the International Balloon Festival, the largest of its kind in ASEAN.

Arrive at The Riverie by Katathani, where MICE travellers will be amazed by its location which is by Kok River, surrounded by green mountains. The resort can accommodate meetings ranging from small to large with meeting rooms that can gather up to 700 persons with a wide range of facilities.

Take an evening stroll through the atmospheric Chiang Rai Night Bazaar bursting with local hand-made products including many in the distinctive northern lanna style. The bazaar is understandably a favourite with MICE travellers, and cannot be missed when you are visiting the northern province. A variety of mouth-watering local foods are also available, plus performances of Thai dance and local folk music played on the salo so sueng, a local version of a fiddle which has been preserved and passed down through generations.
