The park is one of five Bangkok Metropolitan Administration pilot projects whose aims are “Reviving the City, Connecting Neighbourhoods, Building the Future”. The projects seek to restore and make better use of Bangkok’s network of canals, roads, pavements and green spaces. The construction plan for the Klong Chong Nonsi Public Park project is divided into five phases, two of which have already opened. The park’s activity area features a 3-D printing overflow system, waterfall wall, decorative lighting and beautiful trees and shrubbery, while the Skywalk zone includes a zig-zagging elevated pathway. 3. Food
The new “soft power” is following in the footsteps of Lisa from BlackPink with the distinctive flavours of real Thai food on show with the spicy and sour taste of mangoes, dried chillies, fresh chillies, tomatoes, garlic, lime, long beans, peanuts and salted crab. You can also add fresh shrimp and fresh crab if you like in creating your version of this nutritious dish that provides numerous health benefits, from enhancing immune system function and blood circulation, to helping combat gastrointestinal complaints, heartburn and heart complaints, nausea, dizziness, and colon cancer, as well as providing nourishment for the eyes, hair and skin.
Songkhla fried eggs are a local specialty of the southern province that have recently been registered as a geographical indicative product by the Ministry of Commerce. The dish is produced and processed in the districts of Sating Phra, Krasaesin, Ranot, and Singha Nakhon in Songkhla province. The dish has been passed down through generations of Songkhla residents, and is made by putting two duck egg yolks into a single trimmed eggshell. When steamed, the yolks take on a vibrant reddish-orange colour and shiny skin, and when eaten feature three distinct textural levels to savour. Songkhla eggs have a slightly salty, smooth flavour and are often eaten with southern-style curries or steamed rice.
Look chup are beautifully crafted Thai sweets. Made from ground green beans, the sweets are molded into various exquisite shapes and decorated with food colouring and coated with agar to give them their distinctive appearance. The origins of the sweet can be traced back to the reign of King Narai the Great in the Ayutthaya period of Thai history when there was a strong Portuguese presence in the kingdom. A version of this dessert was published by Madame Donna Maria Guimar de Pinha, or as she was known to the Thai people - Thao Thong Kip Mar, where she substituted mung beans instead of the marzipan that was used in the original recipe. These desserts became very popular in the Thai royal palace and were given to children on special occasions. Later, during the Rattanakosin period, Thanpuying Plian Passakornwong included the dessert in a recipe book where she molded them into bite-size sweets in the shapes of miniature fruits and vegetables. Mom Luang Terb Chumsai na Ayutthaya further adapted the sweets by adding natural colouring to make them look even more like miniature versions of real produce. Nowadays, look chup can be readily found and are popular souvenirs on festival occasions.
